Despite growing challenges: ISM awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal for the third time in succession

ISM GmbH, part of the PIP Group, received the EcoVadis Silver Medal for the third time in a row in recognition of its ongoing commitment in the areas of environment, human and labour rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Scoring 70 out of I00 points, the company is once again among the top 5% in the footwear industry examined by EcoVadis and, despite increased requirements in the assessment process, boldly produces excellent results in the following key areas:

- Environment: Top 12%

- Labour and human rights: Top 11%

- Sustainable procurement: Top 5%

- Ethics: Top 7%

This performance emphasises ISM’s commitment to creating positive impacts across all areas of the business to drive sustainable and productive change wherever ISM operates.

EcoVadis, the world’s leading provider of sustainability ratings, has again recognised ISM-PIP for its continuing efforts in the areas of social governance and sustainable business practices. The Lippstadt-based specialists for safety shoes and workwear are therefore confirming how deeply routed sustainability is in its corporate philosophy.

The EcoVadis rating is based on 21 sustainability criteria that are each divided into four main categories: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. To date, EcoVadis has analysed over 130,000 companies worldwide and uses its evidence-based assessments to provide in-depth insights into the sustainability performance of organisations.

The findings are presented in scorecards ranging from 0 to 100, as well as in medals (bronze, silver, gold and platinum). Not only do these scorecards emphasise strengths, they also highlight areas where there is room for improvement, indicating what companies can do to continue refining their sustainability strategies.

ISM achieved notable progress in two particular areas: the company demonstrably raised its performance in the areas of ‘Ethics’ and ‘Sustainable Procurement’.

This award confirms our commitment to enshrining sustainability as an integral part of all business processes and products at our company”, says Julia Krämer-Gümüs, Managing Director of ISM GmbH. “We take it as motivation to consistently redouble our efforts and to integrate sustainable best practices into everything we do. Our team remains focused on continuous improvements in all aspects of ESG.”

The EcoVadis assessment builds on internationally recognised standards including the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and the ISO 26000 standard. These standards ensure a thorough and reliable assessment that also provides companies with a clear roadmap for continuous improvement of their sustainability efforts.

With this award, ISM, a member of the PIP Group, is sending a strong signal confirming its ongoing responsibility for the environment, society and ethical business practices. It emphasises the company’s efforts to minimise the impacts of its business operations and to drive sustainable change in the long term.

The EcoVadis Silver Medal is valid for one year. For more information about the sustainability initiatives at ISM-PIP, visit: https://www.ism-europa.de/de/ism-betterworld.html.
